Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Governor Whitmer's associated executive orders, and the recovery Phase in which we find ourselves, we are replacing KAMSC's normal Sizzlin' Summer Science and Math Program (SSMSP) with several week's of on-line content --- for the most part free of charge --- beginning this week.
Summer staff are putting together a set of videos featuring experiments drawn from our normal summer classes, for many different ages of children and their families, for both enrichment and enjoyment. The videos will be debuting throughout the week --- beginning this week, the week of July 6 --- for four consecutive weeks, accessible through the YouTube channel "KAMSC Sizzlin' Summer." (Click here to go the the KAMSC Sizzlin' Summer YouTube channel.) All activities can be replicated at home with little or no expense. Any items used that aren't normally available at a grocery store will have an associated link for purchase.
Should a student and their family or guardians within the KAMSC Sizzlin' Summer service area be in need of financial assistance for the purchase of items, or for the participation in activities, within and associated with any of KAMSC's summer programs during Summer 2020, all a student or family or guardian will need to do is contact the KAMSC director, Dr. Michael Tanoff, directly through e-mail (email@example.com) or a phone call (KAMSC office: 269-337-0004), and assistance will be made available. No one beside Dr. Tanoff needs to be made aware of any request for financial assistance.
Whether at KAMSC or in your own back yard, our goal is for children to have every opportunity to explore science, math, and technology, and we hope that this summer's video series, while not a replacement for our normal Sizzlin' Summer Program, will help.
Have an enjoyable and safe summer 2020, and we look forward to seeing you back at KAMSC for our regular Sizzlin' Summer Program in 2021.
Please continue to monitor this KAMSC home page for updates to KAMSC's Sizzlin' Summer Math and Science Program, including the potential for on-line tutoring.
